Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
An exchange traded fund is a security that tracks an index, a commodity or a basket of assets like an index fund, but trades like a stock on an exchange. ETFs are traded on exchanges just like stocks are, and experience price changes throughout the day.
Equity Options
An option is a contract that gives the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at a specific price on or before a certain date. An option, just like a stock or bond, is a security. It is also a binding contract with strictly defined terms and properties. Equity options usually contain stocks as the underlying asset, whereas Futures Options (link to Futures Options page) contain Futures Contracts as the underlying asset.
